Tomorrow, the streets of the 5th Ward will be alive with music, soul food, and history — yep, it’s the Lyons Avenue Renaissance Festival.
We’ll be right there in the mix at Booth #7, talking with neighbors, hearing stories, and spreading the word about something we really need to talk about:
Project: Feed Us — our GoFundMe campaign to raise $300K to bring fresh, affordable groceries right here to the community.

Why?
Because right now, if you want a decent tomato or some fresh chicken that’s not overpriced or questionable…
You’re probably driving miles out of your way.
That’s not right.
We’ve spoken to everyone from city officials to big grocery chains.
And the message has been the same, over and over again:
“It’s not profitable enough to build in that community.”
Well, that’s exactly why we’re doing this ourselves.
Here’s the secret:
No one’s coming to save us…
But that’s not the tragedy — that’s the opportunity.
Because once we realize we’ve got the power, we stop waiting.
We start building.
You might not live in a designated “food desert” like we are.
Maybe you’ve got a Whole Foods or H-E-B across the street…
Or maybe you’re in the same boat that we’re in…
But think about what that store represents:
Access. Choice. Dignity.
Everyone deserves that…
And now, you’ve got a chance to help give that to over 19,000 people — with literally one dollar.
Yes — one.
That’s less than a cup of coffee or snack from your local corner store.
Here’s what we’re asking:
👉 Before you pull up to the festival tomorrow (Saturday, 12–5pm), donate $1 to the Project: Feed Us campaign:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/empowering-our-community-brick-by-brick
Then swing by Booth #7. Say hi. Ask questions. Shake hands. Meet the people doing the work.
Because the only thing more powerful than a community with a vision…
Is one that’s well fed.
See you out there,
